Presenter Information
Gary Taubes is an investigative science/health journalist and the co-founder and president of the non-profit Nutrition Science Initiative (NuSI.org). He is the author of “The Case Against Sugar” (2016), “Why We Get Fat” (2011) and “Good Calories, Bad Calories” (2008). His books have been translated into two dozen languages. Gary has focused his reporting on controversial science and, specifically, the confluence of research in nutrition, obesity, chronic disease and public health policy.

 

 

Dr David Unwin is a GP in Southport, United Kingdom where he has worked since 1986 as a family doctor. For the past few years he has been a Royal College of General Practitioners expert clinical advisor on diabetes. As a result of his interests in both better communication with patients and Type 2 diabetes he was made Royal College of General Practice National Champion for Collaborative Care and Support Planning in Obesity & Diabetes in 2015. David is particularly interested in the low carb-diet as an alternative to lifelong medication in type 2 diabetes and has published research into improving liver function and blood pressure by reducing dietary carbohydrate, especially sugar.

 

Dr Peter Brukner is a world renowned sports medicine clinician and researcher, the founder of SugarByHalf and the author of “Fat Lot of Good”.

 

 

 

Dr Rod Tayler is an anaesthetist from Melbourne and the founder of Low Carb Down Under.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Outside of business hours there are approximately 70 car spaces available at the rear of the Town Hall. Please note that these spaces are also available to the general public. Trams 69 (Glenferrie Rd) and 6 (High St) provide convenient public transport access. Both Armadale and Malvern train stations connect with theses tramlines.
