Now in our third year and growing, we invite you to ‘Low Carb Breckenridge 2018’, located in the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains. We have added a fresh line-up of speakers and interesting topics.

The Doubletree by Hilton Hotel will be hosting this event and providing us with a large and spacious conference room, plenty of space for vendors and mingling and yes, even an oxygen bar for those who might need a little help acclimating to the altitude. The meeting kicks off at 5pm on Thursday evening with registration and welcome drinks at the hotel, so plan accordingly. Whether you’re a skier, snowboarder or not, consider staying a few extra days to enjoy the mountain and lovely town of Breckenridge.

The conference is open to all including the general public, health, nutrition and fitness enthusiasts, the scientific community and healthcare professionals. For healthcare professionals, CME credit will be filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians.

We have a group discount rate of $309 per night (three night minimum) for a standard hotel room at the Hilton by Doubletree hotel and conference center. Multi-room condos are available at the adjacent Beaver Run Resort at their standard rates. There is a wide range of accommodation available around the area including budget friendly options in Frisco, approx. 20 minutes away by car or bus. We have also been able to arrange discount ski lift tickets, rentals and shuttle from Denver International Airport.

An international destination, Breckenridge is a Colorado town at the base of the Rocky Mountains’ Tenmile Range. It’s known for its ski resort, year-round alpine activities and Gold Rush history. The Victorian core of this former mining town is preserved as the Breckenridge National Historic District, running primarily along Main Street, with colourfully painted buildings from the 1880s and 1890s housing shops, galleries and restaurants.

HEALTHY HOMES

Nicole Bijlsma

Nicole Bijlsma is a woman of passion, and her passion lies in environmental medicine. She first became interested in building biology a a result of two events that occurred in her life: the first was when she began to notice the connection between many of her patients’ ill health and their homes. The second was her infertility problem. The cause of her ten miscarriages was eventually identified as an immune disorder (which was diagnosed by a US reproductive immunologist) which she now suspects arose from long term exposure to a high electromagnetic field (sleeping next to the meter box). After relocating to another bedroom, their sleep improved and she gave birth to twins one year later.

Nicole is an accomplished naturopath, acupuncturist and building biologist who has been in clinical practice since 1989. She is the bestselling author of Healthy Home Healthy Family which featured on every major television network and numerous radio programs. She is the founder of the Australian College of Environmental Studies (aces.edu.au) established in 1999 to educate people about the health hazards in the built environment. Nicole is an ambassador for the Mindd Foundation, and is a popular public speaker having lectured at various tertiary institutions and at wellbeing and medical conferences to integrative GPs (ACNEM) and health practitioners. Nicole and her husband Mark are the manufacturers of the Australian made Abode cleaning products range which is rapidly becoming the number one cleaning product line in health food stores across Australia.

EVERYTHING SUGAR

David Gillespie

David Gillespie is a recovering corporate lawyer, co-founder of a successful software company and consultant to the IT industry.

He is also the father of six young children (including one set of twins). With such a lot of extra time on his hands, and 40 extra kilos on his waistline, he set out to investigate why he, like so many in his generation, was fat.

He deciphered the latest medical findings on diet and weight gain and what he found was chilling. Being fat was the least of his problems. He needed to stop poisoning himself.

Damon Gameau

As an actor Damon Gameau has starred in several feature films including Rolf de Heer’s The Tracker, and Robert Connolly’s Balibo opposite Anthony LaPaglia for which he was nominated for an AFI award. On the other side of the camera, he wrote and directed the 2011 winning Tropfest short film, Animal Beatbox.

‘That Sugar Film’ is his first feature film and had its world premiere at IDFA in late 2014 and then went on to screen at Berlinale 2015 where it was bought by Samuel Goldwyn Films who released Super Size Me in the USA. It is currently the second highest grossing Australian documentary of all time. The accompanying book, That Sugar Book is now a best seller and will be translated and released in a host of countries including the UK and USA.

Jacqui Kirkland

Jacqui first worked in hospital laboratories at the time AIDS and Hepatitis C were broadly making their presence known.  She then moved into the chemical industry supplying both big & small businesses with their chemical requirements, before going on to homeschool her children and run her own businesses.  An intriguing journey which has allowed Jacqui to observe our modern world from many perspectives  and to identify some of the challenges we each face. Challenges whichraises questions such as,  what are we doing to ourselves &  how do we stop the disturbing ‘inevitability’ of modern disease?  This led to her great passion, whole foods & healing through lifestyle choices.  Jacqui  founded her own company, Grateful Harvest,  producing and supplying fermented beverages & foods.  Her great passion is to help people make the connection between gut health and the health of their body & mind.  This passion has led Jacqui to connect with worldclass leaders in this area, whose work she loves to share, allowing each of us to discover the potential for change held within.
